Tropical race 4 isn’t a sporting event

Tropical race 4 is threatening global banana stocks. This could send the price of bananas through the roof like it they did in Aussie following cyclone Yasi in 2011. Prices reached $20.00/kg, to put this in perspective they are currently $2.99/kg in New Zealand. This price increase was due to the import restrictions that Australia has on bananas, which meant world stocks could not enter the country, ramping up the price.

The price of bananas in first world countries will be the least of the worries if Tropical race 4 spreads. Quartz explain in this piece.
